Fractals

This gallery contains only the most recent (or most favorite) of my digital works in this category that I have chosen to display, up to a total of 20 images. Items will be rotated beyond that point as newer ones are included.
For those who are interested, the previously displayed removed items are still available to view in the Fractals Archive.

I've been working with and exploring fractals for a number of years. They are endlessly fascinating and quite often beautiful. When I conceived the idea of putting up a fractal gallery, however, I wanted to do something more personal with the fractal images than simply a display of captured images. So I've incorporated them into my regular artwork, bringing them to my digital canvas. And, because fractals represent more to me than just pleasing shapes and colors, I've included snippets of poetic prose with each one as well. The result has created fractals "of a different color" indeed. I hope you'll enjoy your visit here. Select the thumbnail to view the larger version.

I use a number of great programs in the creation of these images, most notably Tierazon, freeware by Stephen C. Ferguson. Stephen has made several fractal generators, and each has its own appeal. I use four of them, but Tierazon is my favorite for most images. You'll also see the use of Curious Labs Poser here. Once the fractal is rendered and chosen, I import it into Poser as a background to set up the models and the lighting. The background is removed before the final render. The remainder of the work takes place with an assortment of paint programs.
