The birthday of a friend was the initiative behind making this piece. The picture itself was inspired by a fine arts image of the archangel Michael by an unknown artist. There were certain elements of that portrayal that I was attempting to capture into this one, although if you put the two side by side, you'd be hard-pressed to see any relation between them. I'm pleased with how my image turned out though; so was the recipient, and those things cover the whole point of doing it.
